Camiral Golf & Wellness: Where Precision Meets Pause.

Camiral Golf & Wellness is a stylish Catalan retreat that pairs world-class golf with a refreshingly modern approach to wellness.

A Short Introduction

Set against the rolling backdrop of Catalonia’s countryside, Camiral Golf & Wellness is a resort with dual personalities — part world-class golf destination, part contemporary wellness retreat. Located just outside Girona and an hour from Barcelona, it’s an easy and elegant escape for those seeking balance, movement, and meaningful rest.

I visited Camiral in early September for a hosted wellness programme, and what struck me immediately was the resort’s calm confidence. This isn’t a place that shouts. Everything — from the pared-back interiors to the perfectly timed itinerary — is designed to help you reset, gently.

The Resort

The resort is well known for its PGA Catalunya Championship Course, consistently ranked among the best in Europe. But beyond the fairways lies a side of Camiral that’s quietly redefining the wellness experience. The Wellness Centre is sleek, light-filled, and smartly equipped with science-led therapies designed to optimise wellbeing without overwhelm.

My schedule included a mix of movement classes, like barre and yoga, led by knowledgeable instructors in a purpose-built studio. I also experienced a series of targeted wellness treatments, including:

Cryotherapy at -110°C — a sharp, invigorating plunge that resets the nervous system and supports inflammation reduction.

Photobiomodulation — red light therapy that supports cellular recovery and reduces oxidative stress.

A personalised Skin Ritual Facial using Biologique Recherche products — gentle, deeply nourishing, and completely bespoke.

These were paired with thoughtfully prepared meals designed by nutritionist Mireia Cervera and executive chef David Vives, which were light, satisfying, and locally inspired.

What elevated the experience was the attention to detail: infused water at every corner, a quiet outdoor pool area with views of the pine forests, and a team who seemed to know what you needed before you asked.

‘‘Chic, Escapist,Personal.’

There were moments of exploration too — a guided walk through Girona’s old town, with its rich Jewish heritage and winding medieval streets, gave cultural context to the stillness back at the resort.

A standout moment for me was the mindful walk and meditation guided by Edgar Tarrés, a sound and wellbeing specialist, lecturer in emotional management and tourism at the University of Girona, and co-founder of the Institute of Silence, a sound and wellbeing specialist who brought a beautiful sense of presence to the experience. His gentle pacing, awareness of the natural surroundings, and quiet guidance created space for reflection — a reminder that sometimes the most powerful reset isn’t a treatment or a class, but simply the act of slowing down with intention.

Camiral is perfect for those who want to move, pause, and reconnect — whether through golf, spa, or simply space. It’s an ideal choice for couples who travel differently — when one’s after a great round of golf, and the other’s craving spa rituals, stillness, and time to recharge. It’s the kind of place where everything feels considered, but nothing feels forced

Reflections

My time at Camiral was a reminder that luxury doesn’t need to be loud. It can be calm, considered, and quietly transformative. Whether you’re drawn to the challenge of the fairways or the grounding stillness of the spa, Camiral makes space for both.

And while Barcelona may steal the spotlight, Girona is a destination in its own right — full of charm, culture, and history, and an ideal base for cyclists looking to explore the surrounding hills and countryside. It’s a corner of Spain I’ll be recommending again and again.
