A Warm South Tyrolean Welcome

I recently had the opportunity to experience Avidea Dolomites during a three-day stay in South Tyrol. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this adults-only retreat offers much more than simply a beautiful setting. Combining spectacular mountain views, an impressive all-inclusive concept, exceptional dining and a strong focus on wellness, Avidea provides the perfect balance of relaxation and adventure. During my stay, I explored the surrounding area, visited Merano, enjoyed scenic hikes and experienced the hotel's wellness facilities, discovering why it has become such a popular choice for couples looking to escape and recharge.

Arrival In South Tyrol

Following our flight into Verona, we were transferred through the beautiful landscapes of northern Italy to Avidea Dolomites, arriving in time for lunch and our first introduction to the property. Set high above Merano, the hotel immediately impresses with its panoramic views across the valley and surrounding mountains.

After lunch, we enjoyed a guided tour of the hotel, giving us the opportunity to explore the wellness facilities, pools, restaurants and relaxation areas. It was the perfect way to gain a deeper understanding of the adults-only concept and the thoughtful touches that make the guest experience so seamless.

Later that afternoon, we ventured into the nearby village to explore the local church and soak up the atmosphere of everyday life in South Tyrol. With free time to wander, browse and take in the scenery, it was a wonderful introduction to the region's blend of Alpine charm and Italian culture.

Back at the hotel, the evening began with an aperitif before dinner, allowing us to relax and reflect on our first day. As the sun set behind the mountains, we enjoyed a delicious meal showcasing the quality and variety that forms such an important part of the Avidea experience.

Exploring the Mountains

The following morning, we set off for one of the highlights of our stay – a visit to Leiter Alm at an altitude of 1,550 metres. Reaching the mountain by its charming basket lift was an experience in itself, with panoramic views unfolding beneath us as we climbed higher into the mountains.

At the top, we paused to enjoy coffee and cake while taking in the breathtaking scenery. Surrounded by fresh mountain air and spectacular views, it was easy to understand why this region is such a favourite with walkers and nature lovers.

Returning to Avidea Dolomites, we enjoyed another leisurely lunch before experiencing one of the hotel's wellness offerings – a private sauna experience. Combining heat, relaxation and mountain views, it perfectly reflected the hotel's philosophy of wellbeing and balance.

As evening approached, we gathered once again for dinner, enjoying another excellent meal showcasing the quality and variety that guests can expect throughout their stay.

Walking the Waalweg and Discovering Merano

Our final morning began with a scenic walk along one of South Tyrol's famous Waalweg paths. These historic trails, originally created to maintain ancient irrigation channels, offer some of the region's most picturesque walking routes, winding through vineyards, orchards and countryside with spectacular views across the valley.

The gentle walk provided a wonderful opportunity to appreciate the natural beauty of South Tyrol, combining fresh mountain air with ever-changing views of the surrounding landscape. It's easy to see why walking holidays are so popular in this part of Italy.

Our route eventually led us into the elegant spa town of Merano, where Alpine traditions blend seamlessly with Italian style. Known for its beautiful architecture, charming cafés and relaxed atmosphere, Merano is a destination well worth exploring in its own right.

During our visit, we stopped at the stylish Suiteseven Guest House, a contemporary property that perfectly reflects the town's sophisticated yet welcoming character.

After spending time in Merano, we returned to Avidea Dolomites for lunch and an opportunity to reflect on everything we had experienced during our stay. From mountain adventures and wellness experiences to exceptional dining and warm hospitality, it was clear that Avidea offers far more than simply a place to stay.

Reflections

Having experienced both the hotel and the surrounding region, it is easy to see why Avidea Dolomites has developed such a loyal following. While the spectacular setting certainly plays its part, what truly sets the property apart is its ability to combine relaxation, wellness, outdoor experiences and exceptional hospitality in one seamless package.

The adults-only concept creates an atmosphere of calm from the moment you arrive. Whether relaxing by the pool, enjoying a leisurely lunch on the terrace or unwinding in the wellness area, there is a sense of tranquillity throughout the property that allows guests to switch off completely.

Equally impressive is the all-inclusive offering. Rather than constantly reaching for your wallet, everything is designed to make your stay as effortless as possible. From generous breakfasts and leisurely lunches to beautifully prepared evening meals, the quality of the food is a real highlight. Drinks and refreshments are available throughout the day, allowing guests to simply relax and enjoy their surroundings.

Wellness is at the heart of the Avidea experience. The private sauna ritual we enjoyed during our stay was a particular highlight, offering the perfect opportunity to slow down and embrace the hotel's philosophy of rest and rejuvenation. Combined with the wellness facilities, mountain views and fresh Alpine air, it creates an environment that naturally encourages you to recharge.

For those who enjoy being active, the surrounding area offers endless opportunities for walking, hiking and exploring. From the scenic Waalweg paths to mountain adventures such as our visit to Leiter Alm, there is plenty to discover beyond the hotel itself.

Avidea Dolomites strikes a rare balance. It is luxurious without being pretentious, relaxed without sacrificing service and sophisticated whilst remaining welcoming. Whether you are looking for a romantic escape, a wellness break or simply a chance to slow down and reconnect with nature, this adults-only retreat delivers on every level.
